PTZ Control Failure? Troubleshooting Steps for Unresponsive Decoder

10 - Mar - 2026

If the PTZ camera is out of control and the decoder produces no relay action sound, you can troubleshoot it step by step as follows:

PTZ Control Failure? Troubleshooting Steps for Unresponsive Decoder

1.Confirm that the power supply of the decoder is normal, and check whether the power cable is loose or has poor contact;

2.Switch the code converter to 485 signal output mode;

3.Check the protocol, baud rate and address code parameters of the decoder against the equipment manual;

4.Check whether the wiring is correct. The standard connection is Pin 1 to 485A and Pin 2 to 485B (or the reverse wiring sequence).

If none of the above steps can solve the problem, test the self-test function of the decoder: after powering off and restarting, a self-test prompt sound should be heard under normal conditions. You can also measure the voltage between the UP/DOWN port and the PTCOM port, which is normally 24V or 220V. The failure of the PTZ decoder may also be caused by a blown fuse, which needs to be replaced in time in this case.
